The IKEA South Africa showroom in Johannesburg was my one job to do over the weekend. I had been meaning to visit for some time but you know, life. A while back I got my hands on the PS cabinet and had to get a second one. The trip to Midrand was an easy one, even with the rain, and their showroom was pretty easy to find. The important thing is you navigate to Old Pretoria road otherwise you’ll be driving up and down the street parallel and you’ll never find it.
The stock is limited to the best of the basics but since you already know that Nevada Furniture (who bring in IKEA) allow for custom orders on anything and it doesn’t take all that long to get delivered. And when I say anything, I mean bath towels, mats, lamps… everything. Plus the service is great. They now have showrooms in Cape Town and Johannesburg (see below).
Key tip to installing IKEA furniture: you cannot do it alone, and you must have whisky nearby (it doesn’t do anything but it’s more fun).
