Philip Crangi, while a style icon in a fashion sense, is quite suitably my décor hero as well. I blogged about Philip Crangi’s home (featured on The Selby), two years ago. I am still pining for his yellow sofa set. Philip told me that it was his grandmother’s set, which he lugged up from Miami and had restored. What I love so much about Crangi’s apartment is that it’s the perfect amount of yellow and all his fantastic finds are beautifully incorporated.
I vowed I wouldn’t replace my Coricraft couch until I found exactly what I wanted. In the meantime I’m recovering and refilling said couch. Coricraft sells slip covers of older styles, just not always in the original fabric. If I cannot find or create the above sofa (my sources do say it can be done for less than the retail price of 25 000+), then I may just reupholster the two Danish chairs I recently restored, using the same yellow to inject a bit of yellow into my living room. I haven’t had too much luck finding their origin, but it seems this style is called the Mayor sofa, sold mostly without the bolster pillows these days.
Yellow, whether featured in your home as an accent or as the lead, has so many great shades but this mustard yellow (Pantone Mimosa, apparently) is just so fantastic. Here are a few more images to enjoy.
